They will face 6 bands from other states to determine a winner who will move on to the final competition hosted by the Christian Festival Association and Word Records. This battle will consisit of 14 bands nationwide and be held in Nashville, TN. The Battle for Christ is a program in which bands that perform in the genres of Contemporary Christian and Christian Rock compete for for awards, festival performances, and ultimately a recording contract. Though we strive to support the ministries of each band, it is our mission to share the message of Jesus Christ to our youth through the power of music. By providing venues throughout the state, the battles, and concerts, it is our hope that youth groups will become involved in these events, inviting friends from school that do not attend church. Through testimony and heartfelt lyrics, we stive to lead young souls to Christ. We are proud to announce partnerships with Chattanooga Christian Radion Station J-103, J-Fest, and Ichthus for this year's Battle for Christ. The Contemporary Christian Semi-Finals will be held at at J-Fest , June 5 & 6, 2010 in East Ridge, TN. The Christian Rock Semi-Finals will be conducted at Lee Unviersity, Cleveland, TN on May 15th in conjunction with a concert by Decyfer Down. The top 2 winners from each battle will perform at the Ichthus Festival, Wilmore, KY, June 17 - 19, 2010 among top label artists.The four bands will compete in the Ichthus Ascenxion Scout Showcase in front of 3 record label executives hosted by Word Record Label. The overall winner will move on to a September battle hosted by the Christian Festival Association and Word Records for a shot at a recording contract with Word Record Label in Nashville The overall winner BFC winner will receive an Artist Develpment Deal to include a full album, photo shoots, promotion, and tour with a major label Christian band in 2011.Page 1

In addition, Legacy will offer some awards of our own in an effort to assist in the development of artists/bands that excel in our battle. * 1st Place Christian Rock - Ascenxion Scout Showcase 2nd Place Christian Rock - Ascenxion Scout Showcase * 1st Place Contemporary Christian - Ascenxion Scout Showcase 2nd Place Contemporary Christian - Ascenxion Scount Showcase * The Christian Rock Semi-Finals on May 15th will be held in conjunction with Christian Rock Mega Band Decyfer Down* The Contemporary Christian Semi-Finals will be held at J-Fest 2010. * Overall Winner - Legacy Development Program: * Full Album Recording at Legacy Recording Studios * Professional Photo Shoot * A spot as opening band on the "Legacy Tour" in the fall of 2011. This band will open for a well known, signed Christian band on a 10 - 15 city tour. The 1st place winner of the Ascenxion Scout Showcase will move on to the Word Record Label Battle for a shot at a recording Contract.

Judges

Judges for the battle wil vary throughout each state. We will utilize some of the same Judges as in 2009, but will also be adding new names to our list. Confirmed for this year's Judging to date:

Performance Information and Rules

June 5th Semi Finals- Bands need to arrive at Camp Jordan, East Ridge, TN to the rear of the stage.

All equipment needs to be unloaded and vehicles moved by 9:00 a.m.

Dave Phillips (Stage Manager) will issue your band passes upon arrival.

The drawing for order of performance has already been completed. See the HOME PAGE for the list.

We will utilize 2 stages for the battle. While one band is performing, the other band will be setting up. Time will start as soon as the band is introduced. Each band will have approx 25 minutes of set up time

Due to the strict time limitations of the festival, sets will be 25 Minutes. The 5 minute reduction should not impact your set from the previous battle, as set up time WILL NOT be inlcluded in your set.

Bands will bring three (3) sets of lyric sheets for each of the songs that will be performed. Please supply 3 sets of stapled or binded lyrics for the judges, in the order in which they will be performed. (The band will be penalized 10 points if the lyrics are not provided. Lyrics are required to have a Christian message.)

There will be 3 judges at each event.

Kevin Ward - Co-owner of Vines Records, a multi award winning Producer, Engineer & Song Writer. Kevin has produced &/or engineered over 80 top 10 Christian radio hits.

Willie Kitchens - Lead Singer of the Impressions - Member of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Vocal Group Hall of Fame. WIllie has performed with some of the biggest names in the music industry including a tour with Eric Clapton and vocal appearances on Eric's "Reptile" album.

J103 - Chattanooga Christian radio station and Legacy partner will provide a member of staff.

Stage Look & interaction with crowd

All drummers will use the same drum set supplied by Legacy Productions. The set will consist of kick drum, High Hat stand (no cymbals), 2 toms, floor tom, rack, & two cymbal stands. Drummers will need to provide their own snare, snare stand, kick pedal, high hat cymbals, cymbals, & cymbal stands (if more than 2 are needed.)

The Battle For Christ encompasses a total of seven (7) competitions.

Although different judges will be utilized in each of the locations the scoring criteria for the battle will be consistent throughout. The regional and semi-final competitions will utilize 3 judges. Each judge's score card will provide the opportunity for the band to gain 33.3 points.

The criteria used by the judges will include:

1. Preperation

2. Appearance

3. Interaction With The Crowd

4. Quality of Performance

The Final Battle will be conducted at Ichthus. Four bands from our battle will be combined with 6 bands from IL & OH for a total of 10 bands. Ichthus will provide three judges from three (3) different record labels; (Word Records, Go Tee Records & ?). These judges will determine the overall winner, who will move on to the Word Record battle conducted in Nashville in September.
